Get your ducks in a row

Private Practice Resource (PPR) creates accounting and forecasting templates tailored specifically for therapists who run their own practice. PPR’s goal is to help these business owners shift from financially unclear to confident therapists who are able to focus on the work they are truly passionate about. The branding needed to reflect this optimism, so the key characteristics we went after were: balanced, transparent and empowering.

With a very literal name like Private Practice Resource, it was clear a main project objective would be figuring out a way to make the brand memorable in the audiences mind. Sometimes a little levity can make intimidating tasks seem a lot less daunting. In a space over-saturated with wellness feeling brands, there was an opportunity for PPR to use humor as a breath of fresh air and create a lasting impression with the customer.

Enter Gloria Mallardson, PPR’s rubber duck mascot. She’s buoyant, disarming and ready to help “get your ducks in a row”. Pairing Gloria with a trustworthy and concise condensed sans serif (Interstate) creates an interesting combination that is playful, yet dependable. The supporting typefaces (Clarendon / Work Sans) and simple elementary-like color palette provide subconscious cues to education, and lighthearted moments of youth. Making the ordeal of bookkeeping a lot less intimidating, and in turn empowering the customer.
